Sarah Grant

Birth: 16 Mar 1701/2, probably Watertown, Middlesex Co, MA

Baptism: 29 Mar 1702, Watertown, Middlesex Co, MA

Death: 7 Jan 1729/30, probably Concord, Middlesex Co, MA

Burial: Farmers Burial Ground, Weston, Middlesex Co, MA

Father: Caleb Grant
Mother: Elizabeth Jackson

Spouse: Josiah Parks
Marriage: estimated 1722

Notes:

Sarah was the daughter of Caleb and Elizabeth Grant, born 16 March 1702.1

Caleb Grant was deceased by 7 Apr 1718 when his widow Elizabeth Grant was granted letters of administration for the estate of her deceased husband, Caleb Grant, late of Weston.2

Josiah Parks was witness to guardianship papers for Sarah's siblings, dated 30 March 1722, in which Jonathan Draper accepted guardianship for Elizabeth, a minor in her fifteenth year, Caleb in his eleventh year, and Ruth in her seventh year of age, all children of the late Caleb Grant of Weston.3

Research Notes for Sarah Grant:

Bond in Genealogies of the families and descendants of the early settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts gives her birth date as 16 Mar 1702/3, and shows a different Sarah bapt. 22 Mar 1701/2 (p. 260). These dates are likely incorrect.

The Watertown records give a birth date of 16 March 1702, omitting the dual dating notation.4 The records also indicate she was baptized 29 March 1702.5

Assuming the baptism date is correct, it would imply a birth date of 16 March 1701/2.

Her gravestone has inscribed a death date of "Janry 7th, 1730 in ye 28th Year of her Age." The Concord vital records give a death date of 6 Jan 1729/30.

The Records of Weston state that she was received into the church there (as Sarah Grant) 17 July 1720, and died (as Sarah Parks) 7 Jan 1729/30, p. 400.6

The Concord and Weston death records are likely correct. She was in her 28th year, which implies a birth date of 16 March 1701/2, which is then consistent with the baptism date of 29 Mar 1702.
